Climate change is the challenge of our time

With the “agriculture, forestry and other land uses” sector accounting for 13-21% of global emissions, there is mounting pressure to address this issue through sustainable production and supply chains. In Europe, this has led to both regulatory and non-regulatory initiatives to reduce emissions, such as mandatory reporting on Scope 1 and 2 emissions.

Against this backdrop, the Sustainable Palm Oil Dialogue (SPOD) 2024 will look at how innovative voluntary and mandatory initiatives can support emissions’ reduction in the palm oil supply chain. As well as how these initiatives can respect the position of smaller actors in the palm oil supply chains (including smallholder farmers), to ensure they are not left behind in the journey towards more sustainable agricultural practices.
