Prof. Erik Meijaard has worked in the South-East Asian tropics for the past 32 years primarily on wildlife conservation and forest and oil palm management. He is Managing Director at Borneo Futures in Brunei Darussalam and he co-chairs the IUCN Oil Crops Task Force. Erik conducts most of his work on the interface between science and practice, using scientific research to influence policies, perceptions and practices related to management of wildlife and their habitats. He has extensive experience on wildlife management and monitoring in oil palm and a deep understanding of difficult trade offs related to the production of vegetable oils.
