Marieke Leegwater is the central point of contact regarding the global Solidaridad Palm Oil Program, that supports farmers with sustainable oil palm cultivation across all major palm oil producing regions. She is a co-chair of the RSPO Standing Committee Smallholders and involved in the RSPO P & C review and is a member of the RSPO Complaints Panel. Next to her role within Solidaridad, she also coordinates the Sustainable Palm Oil Choice, an initiative set up to stimulate the uptake of Sustainable Palm Oil in Europe and balance the debate around palm oil. Before Marieke joined Solidaridad, she worked for the Dutch Product Board for Margarine, Fats and Oils (MVO), where set up of the Dutch Task Force Sustainable Palm Oil. Marieke holds a master degree in Public Law.
