- Function: Decent Work Programme Manager
- Company: RSPO
Cheng joined RSPO as Decent Work Programme Manager in March 2024, bringing with her 15 years of experience in research, development, humanitarian, and, most recently, sustainability. She leads the drafting of RSPO’s Prevailing Wage Calculation Procedure, an integral first step in its Revised Living Wage Strategy that adapts existing wage calculation methodologies to the RSPO-certified palm oil context. She also serves as a Technical Advisory Group member for the IDH Roadmap on Living Wages.
Before RSPO, she worked with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on relief and livelihood programmes, and as a consultant with the International Labour Organization (ILO) on social protection, employment policy, and labour statistics. She holds a PhD in Public Policy Analysis from Maastricht University (Netherlands). Coming from a family of oil palm smallholders, she is happy to be back in her home country (Malaysia) contributing to sustainable palm oil after two decades abroad.
