Martin Huxtable
- Function: Global Procurement Director, Sustainability & Surfactants
- Company: Unilever
Martin Huxtable’s purpose is to lead sustainability, procurement, and supply chain teams to deliver transformative impact far greater than the sum of its parts. He is passionate about value chains and driven by understanding and developing new ways to create equitable value and growth for farmers, businesses, partners, brands, and customers.
Currently, Martin leads sustainable sourcing at Unilever, focusing on commodities such as palm oil, coconut, wood-based packaging, soy, and cocoa. He is responsible for advancing Unilever’s commitments and goals to protect and regenerate nature, including leading the company’s end-to-end programme to deliver a zero-deforestation supply chain, designing and implementing a cross-commodity supplier policy for people and nature, and shaping the strategy to empower the next generation of smallholders.
Martin joined Unilever in Durban in 1997, beginning in supply chain before taking on several leadership roles in the transformation of Unilever’s procurement operations across Africa. In 2010, he relocated to Singapore, where he led a diverse portfolio spanning regional tea procurement, the development of new business models, and sustainable agriculture-based supply chains across India, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Myanmar — a particularly dynamic and rewarding period in his career.
Prior to his current role, he served as Global Procurement Director for Unilever based in Switzerland, where he continued his focus on agricultural value chains by leading the company’s network for soft commodities.
